Happy Nurses Week!

Written by Corinne Massey on . Posted in News

This week we celebrate the nurses in our province during Nurses week. In each of our offices, the teams took some time out to pay a surprise visit to our nurses in their regions and to drop off flowers, treats and notes of appreciation. Our CareGivers teams work closely with nurses in so many capacities; from the nurses in acute care, discharge planning nurses, and our emergency departments to our nurses out in the community. All our nurses in the province contribute to the health and well-being of all residents of Newfoundland and Labrador with the care they provide and our teams were excited to recognize them for their contributions this week. Thank you to all our nurses!

Kim and our team in St. John’s had lots of fun visiting the nurses at the Emergency Room and 4th floor at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s to thank them for their contributions this week! They were so excited to have a cheerful visitor drop by with some treats!

Petrina and Melanie in our Grand Falls-Windsor office dropped by Carmelite House, the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre 3B. They also visited with Community supports building on Queensway to drop off a treat for the continuing care nurses. The nurses were delighted to receive a treat in the middle of their shift.

In our Western region, Trina visited the Restorative Care unit at Long term care this week.  The nurses were so happy and excited to receive some treats.

And last but not least, thank you to our very own nurses; Bob Dewling, Tammy Curtis, and Connie Ings in St. John’s, and Heather Lewis in Western who provide us with so much support as we provide care to our clients.  We are so proud to have such wonderful nurses on our team!

Easter Giving in our Communities

Our offices all over the island were very busy this past week! In each of our offices, our staff prepared Easter baskets full of goodies that they delivered to community partners as a thank you for all the hard work they do in our communities.

It was an awesome Afternoon With The Easter Bunny in Bonavista this past Saturday, where CareGivers partnered with the Memorial United Church to help the Community celebrate Easter. We had a great turnout from the community for the afternoon which was filled with games, prizes, ice-cream, and of course, a visit from the Easter Bunny himself!

At the end of the day, one lucky winner, Linda Fisher, walked away with a CareGivers Easter Basket packed to the rim with chocolate and Easter treats galore!

A special thanks also to Robin’s Donut’s, Riff’s Department Store, Crystal’s Cakez, Port Rexton Brewing, Bonavista Pharmacy, PK’s Restaurant, Round da Bay Inn, The Powder Room, and Midway Store who also donated prizes. It was great to have such wonderful support from local businesses for this event!

Seniors Healthy Luncheon in Grand Falls-Windsor

Written by Corinne Massey on . Posted in News

Petrina and Carol-Ann from the Grand Falls-Windsor branch recently braved some snowy weather to host a Seniors Healthy Luncheon afternoon at the Exploits Community Center.  Those who attended were treated to a few games of bingo with some useful household items as prizes, and one lucky winner received a $50 grocery gift card.  The attendees were introduced to a new activity for the town of Grand Falls-Windsor; chair yoga and chi meditation run by a senior in the community who volunteered her time to teach for the luncheon.  After everyone was fully relaxed, they were treated to a nutritious and healthy lunch. The hummus dip was quite a hit with our seniors!  Those who came out despite the snow and slush had a great time and can’t wait for our next event in the community!
